Miss Ukrainian
New Jersey 2018

Miss Ukrainian New Jersey is an artistic contest that promotes Ukrainian art, culture, and history through the intellect, achievements, talents and personal qualities of Ukrainian participants that are living, working or studying in the state of New Jersey. 

For the participants, this competition is not only an opportunity to be in the shining light on stage, and not only about winning. It is an opportunity to meet many people, make new friends, attend workshops, and gain an unforgettable experience.

The contest’s mission is based on the holistic approach to the personality. The organizers, the 137th branch of the Ukrainian National Women's League of America (UNWLA), aim to present the image of a modern young Ukrainian woman, which harmoniously combines the beauty of the soul and the body, with intellect, work ethic, and proactive compassion.

These qualities are most fitting when describing the emigrant women from Ukraine, who founded the UNWLA more than 90 years ago. From 1925 to the present, there have been many changes in the world, but the UNWLA guidelines remain the same:

-  inform the free world about events in Ukraine

-  help her morally and materially 

-  preserve Ukrainian identity, culture, and artistic heritage on emigration,  and disseminate information about it among the American community

The organization has a not-for-profit and tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status, run exclusively by volunteers with 100%  of its donations directed to people in need, as well as educational and cultural projects.

The winner will choose the project/s she wishes to be involved in as a representative of the UNWLA and the Ambassador of Goodwill.

- To promote the ideas of volunteering and charity. An important part of the competition is fundraising for the existing humanitarian, cultural, and educational projects of the UNWLA. 

- To provide a meeting place for talented, intelligent girls conscious of their origin and heritage, motivated to make the world a better place .

- To give them an opportunity to show their best qualities, thus becoming role models for younger girls. By rewarding them, we aim to endorse the ideals of spiritual and physical beauty in the modern world.

- To make the Grand Finale a place of celebration of Ukrainian culture and popularization of knowledge about the modern style of Ukrainian life among Americans.
